Hello, my dear readers!
To celebrate crossing the 25,000-word milestone, I have a special treat for you. Here’s a sneak peek at Within the Bonds, book one of my two-book mystery-suspense series. Enjoy!
Back in her van, Ashley massaged her temples and tried to figure out what to do next. She could pick up the kids and go home to wait for Garrett. Her head pounded at the thought of sitting on the couch, stewing about her ruined anniversary while she waited for him to call or come home. She could stay here in the parking lot and watch for him in case he’d had to return to data center and was on his way back to the office. But if that was the case, why wouldn’t he answer his cell phone?
Unless he was with someone he didn’t want her to know about.
No, she wasn’t going to go there. Not yet. She would trust that there was a good reason Garrett wasn’t answering her calls.
After another fifteen minutes, she decided to drive up to the data center herself. Maybe he couldn’t hear his phone. He’d told her how noisy it was with all the servers, and he often missed calls when his phone was on vibrate because he couldn’t feel it.
The sun was slipping behind the western mountains as she pulled out of the company parking lot and turned toward the data center. She didn’t know what she would do if she found Garrett up there working, too involved with what he was doing to realize the time.
She refused to think about what she would do if he wasn’t there.
